What is the best travel writing book you have ever read?
A book that made you really feel like you were there when you were reading it!
Bill Bryson’s ‘Notes from a big country’.
It’s about his travels through the small towns of the USA. He’s a wonderful writer, really describes places very well.

I did some traveling for job interviews. I have spent $843.00 this year. I am sure it will go up from there. Can I write these expenses off?
Yes you can…as an itemized deduction.

I’ve been offered a split in advertising revenue generated by my articles by one travel review website – but I’m unsure whether this is reasonable and what the mechanics would be.
Accept it no matter what. There isn’t a "going rate" – depends entirely on how good you are, whether you can pull traffic. You won’t know what you are worth until you try to leave and take your writing elsewhere.
If you are good, you’ll get invited to gigs whether other travel writers gather – buy them drinks till they tell you what their deals are.
